The pancreas is an organ of the gastrointestinal tract that is involved in the secretion of endocrine (insulin) and exocrine (enzymes). Violation of the system and quality of nutrition causes irreversible damage to the functions of the pancreas, which is significantly reflected in the quality of its work. Therefore, you need to know what you cannot eat with inflammation of the pancreas to avoid inflammation of the organ.
What Is Pancreatitis And How Dangerous
Chronic pancreatitis, with impaired glandular enzyme function, is a chronic, progressive, sluggish disease with abdominal pain, indigestion, and nutrient absorption disorders.
Causes of the disease:
- Eating Disorders;
- Consume fatty foods as well as foods that cannot be consumed with inflammation of the pancreas;
- Alcohol consumption;
- Consumption of many sugar and flour products.
And other diseases of the gastrointestinal tract - gastric ulcer, gastritis, gastroenteritis, cholecystitis, cholelithiasis.
Continuous violation of diet and consumption of foods heavy for the stomach leads to violation of pancreatic secretion by enzymes. Inflammation occurs in the tissue of the gland and then the ducts harden. Over time, the body cannot produce enough enzymes to digest food. All this affects the quality of digestion - undigested fibers appear in the stool, bloating develops in the intestines, and the absorption of the necessary substances and vitamins deteriorates.
Signs of worsening chronic pancreatitis
Symptoms of chronic pancreatitis:
- Shingles in the abdomen;
- Nausea and vomiting;
- Weight Loss;
- Stool disorders in the form of diarrhea or constipation.
In addition, there may be such manifestations of inflammation of the pancreas - general weakness, hiccups, bloating, dry skin, symptoms of vitamin deficiency.
Diet for exacerbation of pancreatitis
The main task of a pancreatitis-pancreatitis diet is to develop a gentle diet and to choose a diet that would reduce the load on the pancreas. Products that increase gastric acidity and stimulate pancreatic secretion of enzymes are excluded from the diet, so all patients need to know what to eat in case of chronic pancreatitis.
During the period of exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis, complete starvation is prescribed for 2-3 days until symptoms resolve. You cannot eat food, not even dietary foods, during this period. The patient should drink if they have symptoms of thirst. The treatment is complemented by bed rest and complete rest. Cold on her stomach.
A few days after the symptoms of the exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis have subsided, the food is given according to a specially developed diet. In medical practice, this is Table 5.
The food should be slightly warm. Avoid hot and cold food temperatures.

What not to eat in your pancreatitis diet:
- Categorically contraindicated consumption of fatty meat - pork, chicken skin;
- Strong broths (fish and meat) - excluded from the diet because they have a lot of (fermenting) effect and cause stomach pain;
- Legumes and cabbage are not allowed - they are not only rich in coarse fibers but also cause increased gas production;
- Any carbonated beverage;
- Smoked, fried or grilled foods;
- Coffee, strong tea, chocolate and cocoa should be kept to a minimum;
- Turn off any alcohol and fresh bread;
- Ice cream for pancreatitis should be limited;
- Exclude all spices - onions, garlic, peppers;
- Hard-boiled eggs;
- Mushrooms in any form;
- Excluded fatty species - saury, mackerel, eel, saberfish, ivasi, caspian sprat, silver carp, notothenia, sturgeon.
Sweets, pies, and sweet tea should not be consumed with inflammation of the pancreas, as high intestinal sugar causes fermentation and bloating.
In addition, as the pancreatitis worsens, additional medications are prescribed, which may include the following classes of drugs: proton pump inhibitors (reduce gastric secretion), enzymatic drugs, adsorbents, antispasmodics, analgesics.
Menu for exacerbating pancreatitis
Diet Development
The menu includes the following foods, the use of which provides the body with the necessary nutrients, while not irritating the pancreas. The food is steamed or cooked and must not contain raw vegetables or fruits.
Soups should be in water or low-fat meat (fish) broth. Best for mucous membranes or rubbing. Under no circumstances should they be baked in soups. Porridge should be cooked in water or milk diluted in water.
The menu should include meat and fish. But not fatty varieties. Most dietary fish are cod with a fat content of 1, 4%. Such fish are rapidly digested by the gastrointestinal tract and are easily digested. It does not strongly stimulate the enzymatic function of the pancreas and is therefore considered optimal for inflammation of the pancreas.
For meat, rabbit, turkey, beef tenderloin or chicken breast are preferred. Steamed meat products, fried or cooked with vegetables. You can cook meatballs or half a slice of vegetables.
The menu includes the following dishes:
- steamed, cooked or steamed vegetables;
- "yesterday's" bread;
- baked fruits (apples);
- low-fat lactic acid foods;
- drinks - compote, jelly, weak tea;
- lean meats - chicken breast, turkey, beef and veal, rabbit;
- low fat marine fish - pollen, blue whiting, hake, flounder, cockroach, cod;

Patient Note

- Food should be high in calories, according to needs;
- Do not eat foods from the list above that should not be eaten in case of pancreatic disease;
- Overeating is not allowed;
- Is it possible to use pancreatitis ice cream - ice cream with limited fat content.
In addition, timely treatment of any disease of the gastrointestinal tract is necessary to prevent complications and reduce the exacerbation of the disease.
